Week 1: Hearst Mansion
27/08/18

Our first class began with an introduction to the module and what we will be covering this semester - starting off with photo compositing. We practiced on a picture of Hearst Mansion's pools and photoshopped Christopher Robin in the picture. We were required to add reflections, adjust the colouring, etc to make the photo seem as realistic as possible. We covered the following tools in Photoshop - layers, masking, quick selection tool, adjusting opacity, free transform tool and using the brush where required. Once we completed this exercise in class, we were asked to Photoshop ourselves into the same (or another photo) of Hearst Mansion for next week.

Week 3: Ghost house
11/09/18

In this week's class, we were to follow an online tutorial that Mr. Jeffrey had uploaded; we were also sent the files that would required to make the ghost house. We learned to use the following tools from the video - polygon tool for selection, masking, match colour and adjusting the blending modes and opacity.

Week 5: Recolouring

This week, we learnt how to recolour photos, first by trying it out on this black and white photo and then one of our own to be submitted later. We learnt how to use experiment with different colours, opacity, blending modes and to use the eyedropper colour for finding suitable references for skin tones. We were also told to work in separate layers, i.e each part, the hair or the eyes, having a separate layer for itself so that it would easier to go in and correct mistakes later.

Week 6: Clone stamps & healing brush

This week, we covered the clone stamp and healing brush tool. In class we practiced this on a photo to duplicate the scars and spots on  a boy's face using the clone stamp tool and then cleared them using the healing brush. Once we were done with this, we had to add a cloth texture to a flag.

This effect was created by using the cloth texture to displace the regular picture of the flag.

Week 7: Changing one's stripes
2/10/18

In this week's class, based on what we learned from the previous class, we added a snakeskin texture to a man's face.

Later, we were also asked to submit a hybrid animal - which could be done either by combining the traits like the texture or stripes of an animal or the actual parts of it together. I combines these two pictures of a cat and an owl.

Week 8: Castle of the Pyrenees
9/10/18

This week, our exercise was to recreate a surrealistic painting by René Magritte, called Castle of the Pyrenees. We had to find our own images for this exercise and I found these photos that I felt like could be used. I also added in some clouds and painted over to blend in the edges of the rock. I also added some highlights and shadows to the castle.

Week 9: Dali Atomicus
16/10/18

This week's exercise was to recreate the Dali Atomicus, a photograph by artist Philippe Halsman. For this, we had to take our own pictures and/or find suitable ones of objects that could be used.
