Illustration and Visual Narrative
Project 2

Week 8

The second project for this module was to create a graphic novel based on any story of our choice, illustrating the decisive moment. Mr. Hafiz suggested looking into Edgar Allen Poe's stories as they were very vivid and easy to narrate. I picked one of his more popular ones, called The Black Cat. I looked into the plot structure and chose the ending as my decisive moment. I broke the scene down and made these storyboards so that it would be easier for me to illustrate later on.

At this point, I wasn't sure about what style or colours I was going for but I tried to make a moodboard for the story anyway.

Week 9: Illustration process

Once the panels were done, I started drawing the figures using the pen tool on illustrator. Once I was done, I exported it to Photoshop and worked on each panel separately for the details.

Week 10: Compiling and arranging panels

Once I was done painting in Photoshop, I compiled each of the panels as smart objects (which were made into separate files) into pages. I saved this is a pdf and it can be found here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ggSLyOkMb_EHVS1Onr4nwdjycHhcRY6T/view?usp=sharing
