Week 2 (10/04/19)
After watching some stop motion video clips in class, Mr. Martin asked us to watch a few more and give a review for three which we like with an explanation. These are the ones I found interesting -
Shiny - Daniel Cloud Campos
This stop motion was seamless and so smooth. The story was short and simple but what really brought the clothes - the main prop - to life were the sound effects. I loved that all that was used were clothes and things you might anywhere at home; it goes to show how you don't need much if you have creativity and the technical skills.
Fresh Guacamole - PES
This Oscar-nominated short was fun to watch from start to finish. I loved the use various objects instead of the actual ingredients and how each one changed form through the whole process. The film didn't exactly have a stop motion effect as it was that smooth - the only thing that gave it away was how absurd the story was.
Fantasia - Guildies
Though, I'm unsure of what exactly the plot was, this stop motion video is very well made clearly took lots of effort. The sculpting of the clay must have been a very difficult process, especially since it covers a major portion of the video. The sound effects and background music add an eery feel to the video as well.
Idea for stop motion film -
For my stop motion video, I wanted to to do something a bit more surrealistic. It could start off with a person setting their alarm clock for the next day and going to bed. Soon enough, the objects around their room come to life and "go on an adventure." For this, I wanted to use paper and show it being folded into a plane and also involve small toy figurines that could fly around before crashing/dropping to the ground, which is when the person wakes up with a start. It would also be interesting if other objects like plants, or the clock or books could be animated with their own part in the story.
Week 6 (10/05/19)
We were asked to show a storyboard of our plot, showing each scene and transitions briefly.
Week 8 (24/06/19)
For the following week, we were asked to present our production plan - including the storyboard, moodboard, colour scheme, materials, etc. Below is mine, with the finalised theme and storyboard -
