This week's lecture was held on image and imagery in packaging. It covered the different kind of images present on packaging - photos, illustration or both, and imagery, which are the elements used to create visual representation.

INSTRUCTIONS
Project 1
Week 5
Our first project was to create packaging for our book from Publishing Design. This includes a book sleeve, paper bag and a merchandise that goes with the book. For this week, we were asked to come up with a few sketches for each of the aforementioned and also consider the material and look at references for how we want it done. Sketches -
For the third item, which is to create merchandise for the book, I considered a couple of different ones - a poster or art print, a set of coasters and a bookmark but I chose to create a travel wallet/passport holder as my product. This was so that its still in line with the topic of my book, which is about my trip to Morocco.

I was inspired by these DIY passport holders from Amnesty International
As for the book sleeve and holder for the merchandise, I decided to create a box that doubles as packaging for both rather separate ones. This will then go in a separate paper bag.
Week 6
I began working on the dieline for the book sleeve and the passport holder and tried making making a mockup. First attempts for the dieline -

After consulting with Mr. Shamsul, he suggested increasing the width of the passport holder so that its not completely flat. I revised the dieline and made a few changes -

FEEDBACK
Week 5
Mr. Shamsul commented that my idea for the product was good and work with my book's theme. But since I'm combining the packaging for both and creating a sturdy box that can hold everything, I'll have to pick card that is strong enough and suggested using at least 300gsm.
Week 6
When I showed Mr. Shamsul my prototype for the book sleeve he commented that it looked very clean and suggested some changes to the design. I was told to change the holder of the book to one that is attached to the main sleeve rather than attaching it separately.
